Danielle Mathers, Senior Vice President, 340B at Nashville Pharmacy Services and longtime CV340B leader, on the power of collaboration, advocacy, and keeping the 340B community connected.
Over nearly two decades in the 340B space — including many years at Ponaman Healthcare Consulting and now in her role as Senior Vice President at Nashville Pharmacy Services (NPS) — Danielle Mathers has helped providers navigate an evolving healthcare landscape, supporting compliant pharmacy programs that expand patient access and strengthen safety-net care.
A CV340B board member and advocate, Danielle has helped bring together covered entities, pharmacies, vendors, and partners across the country to strengthen the 340B community. This May, CV340B will honor her with the organization’s Legacy Advocate Award in recognition of her years of leadership, partnership, and dedication to defending 340B.
For Danielle, the story of CV340B has always been about creating clarity in a complicated healthcare landscape and helping organizations work together to protect access to care.
Building Clarity in a Changing 340B Landscape
When Danielle first became involved with CV340B, the 340B landscape was rapidly evolving. Increased scrutiny around compliance, changing HRSA guidance, and growing attention from lawmakers created uncertainty across the healthcare system.
At a time when many organizations were trying to navigate those changes independently, CV340B created space for shared learning and collective problem-solving.

Danielle says one of the organization’s greatest strengths has always been its ability to unite people who might otherwise operate separately, while keeping the focus on program intent and integrity.
Growing Into a Stronger Advocacy Network
Over the past decade, Danielle has watched CV340B evolve from a more education-focused organization into a stronger advocacy network for the 340B community.
What began through in-person education expanded into regional calls, legislative updates, open forums, and real-time collaborative spaces that helped organizations navigate changing challenges together.
![What stands out is that [340B has] kept that original collaborative spirit while evolving to meet the realities we’re navigating today. As challenges to the program have intensified, Danielle says that infrastructure has become increasingly important in helping organizations stay informed and prepared to respond.
Why Showing Up Matters
For Danielle, advocacy is most powerful when people come together in person.
She says events like the March help transform policy conversations into something personal and tangible by putting real faces and stories behind the program.

At a time when the 340B program faces mounting pressure, from manufacturer restrictions to broader policy threats, Danielle believes organizations like CV340B play an essential role in helping stakeholders stay informed, aligned, and prepared to respond collectively.
That collective response, she says, is critical to protecting both patient access and the long-term sustainability of safety-net providers.
Looking Ahead
As the next chapter of 340B advocacy unfolds, Danielle hopes to see the movement become more proactive and more grounded in data and patient outcomes.

She believes maintaining a clear, consistent message around program integrity, patient impact, and sustainable access to care will remain critical to protecting the future of 340B.
For Danielle, the future of advocacy still comes back to one central idea: connection. By bringing the right people together, we can protect the patients and providers who depend on the program every day.
